The
During the 1970's, the Los Angeles
Catholic Archdiocese decided to
build a Grand church at the cost of
millions on the west side of town. The
Catholic poor clamored for more help
from the Catholic Church while it decided
to spend millions on this grand Church
in the more affluent side of town. The
students and community banded together
to protest this move by the Catholic
Church. A series of protests and rallies
ended in the Christmas Mass arrest of
protesters.
