PLUTARCO
AGUIRRE
20" x 26"
Pastel on Paper- 2002
This
is a portrait of my wife's great grandfather,
Plutarco. He lived in Saucillo Mexico
before coming to the U.S. in 1910. Pancho
Villa's revolutionary army passed through
Plutarco's
small ranch to rest. One of the soldiers
spotted Plutarco's horse and wanted
it for himself. Plutarco refused to
let him take it, saying, "over
my dead body." Pancho Villa interceded
and told Plutarco that he was a very
brave man to stand up to his soldier.
